Stephanie Nicole Bermudez started drag from a place of kindness, and that is happily where she remains. Let’s celebrate the warm glow of Starr Lust!
Thotyssey: Hello Starr, thanks so much for chatting with us! How’s July been treating you?
Starr Lust: July’s been treating me pretty good! It was my birthday on Monday.
I’ve been celebrating it this whole weekend, and I went out for dinner with my family yesterday. How was your weekend?
It was also my birthday on Friday, so Happy Birthday to us! By the way, I recently re-watched Jayse Vegas and Robert Garcia’s really fun “Meet Me on the Moon” music video from last year, in which you appear! How fun was doing that shoot?
It was so much fun, especially working with Jayse Vegas and Robert Garcia. I was so excited when they asked me to be in a video as the Moon Lady; I was supposed to be a mysterious moon lady alien! It was so much fun, and that’s one of my favorite songs from them both.

So, you are an out and proud trans woman who performs as a drag queen throughout the tri-state area. Where are you from originally, and how did you begin as a performer?
I was born and raised in the Bronx, and I started performing at an elderly daycare center. My mom used to go to one of those centers, and they wanted a drag performer… so they asked me if I could donate my time. And [afterwards], I started it to perform at Boots & Saddle, Rockbar and Stonewall.
What sort of divas, music, etc. inspire your looks and numbers?
Madonna was a big impact growing up… also Paula Abdul, Tina Turner, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston and Janet Jackson. And rest in peace, my grandmother–she always used to tell me “be yourself, and be original, and be a great performer.”
Do you have a favorite number you like to do today?
My favorite song is Beyoncé’s “I Was Here.”

You used to perform a lot with Thotyssey’s “Thot Mess” party at Rebar. That was a fun night.
Yes, it was so much fun until Covid hit! That place is so awesome.
And you’re still a regular presence at the newer Thursday parties at Rebar! In fact, you’ll be back there this Thursday for Jayse’s “House Party,” along with Aria Jae and legendary DJ Mary Mac!
OMG! It’s gonna be very lit and fun to experience “House Party,” and I love to perform. I cannot wait until Thursday!

Anything else coming up for you?
I have a big campaign shoot coming out with GirlBoyBeauty coming out very soon, and hopefully more future shows. I just want to get the Starr Lust name out there, and for the world to see my talent.
Hello, world! Lastly: All-Stars 7! Whose team are you on to win?
Raja is one of my favorites, but all of them are so talented. This show is so interesting, I cannot wait to see what happens next!
Thanks, Starr!
