A Brooklyn hotspot’s manager and a rising queen on the season, Sarah Creamin’ Onion is the flavor of the moment!
Thotyssey: Sarah, hello! Thanks for chatting! How has your February been?
Sarah Creamin’ Onion: Hello! February has surprisingly been a very busy month. I definitely feel the grind right now, even though it’s not a busy season like Pride or Halloween.
You’re busier than most: by day, you’re the manager of Echo Bravo in Bushwick! How long have you been there, and what’s the bar like for those who haven’t been there yet?
I’ve been at Echo for about four years. The bar is a wings and sports bar. We provide lots of entertainment nights like burlesque bingo with Tiffani Monroe, karaoke, trivia, all sports, and even Rupaul’s Drag Race viewing parties on Fridays.
Where are you from originally, and when did you break into the hospitality biz?
I’m originally from Indiana. I became apart of the service industry very early on–in my teens–and have had all kinds of odd jobs until here.

What brought you to New York, and to drag?
I came to NYC to sing and perform. I got into drag for the first time right before Covid happened.
What’s your drag like?
My drag is really joyful and theatrical. I try to sing live every performance. I love to improvise with the audience, and use every bar as my playground.
You’ve been hosting a Drag Race viewing party with Nouveau Richie on Fridays this year at Echo.
Yes Nouveau and I have been hosting for a couple seasons now!
What do you think of Season 17 so far? Personally I’m not in love with it… everyone’s too young, lol! The recent Oz-themed Rusical was cute, though.
This new season is fun! Honestly if the audience is having a good time, then I’m having a good time–and they are enjoying the season. You’re right, it’s a younger season (I’m older than everyone on there). But it’s fun to see the youthful, catty energy.

And this Saturday, youll be co-hosting a “slumber party” at Echo with Nicky O and Jo Disco! What’s in store for us there?
Full on girl power sleepover! Nail painting! Pillow fights! Drinks and performances!

And Sunday you’ll be joining Nouveau Richie for bingo at another venue, Diane’s!
Yes, such a busy weekend!

What else is coming up for you?
I have my monthly variety show with my friend and comedian Billie Bullock at the Medusa Bar on March 12. We feature comedians, drag, music, and burlesque.

And you have another bingo night coming up on March 24th!
That’s my monthly “Bingo Bango Bongo” at The Bobbed Bandit in Prospect’s Lefferts Gardens, my secret mistress hidden away in Brooklyn. Our Monday bingo is quite the competition.

Have great shows! Finally, as inspired by your name: what’s the best way to eat a baked potato?
With butter and sour cream, roasted in a fire while camping.
Thanks, Sarah!
