Bar(s) that I work at: Spot Bar
How long I’ve worked there: Oh gosh, 4 or 5 months. Time flies when you are having fun, right?
What are my shifts: Weekends; typically Thursday – Sunday.
What makes this bar great: The duality of the bar. The Spot really has a neighborhood feel with amazing regulars, but also has a nightclub vibe which attracts new and different people from all over.
Best drink I make: I am a sucker for doctoring a cosmo or margarita to fit the vibe or mood. Out of pure convenience and speed can I change that and say Vodka Soda? jk.
I love it when customers: Have manners.
I hate it when customers: Smack the bar, yell, raise their hand or go out of their way to get attention and be served out of order. I get it Karen, you think you are more important than the 10 other guests who came before you, but wait your turn…. it’s just a vodka soda…. I am pretty methodical about my process when it gets busy and can’t stand rude people.
Craziest thing I’ve seen here: no comment…. 😉
Other places I’ve worked: Bartending is my “fun” job. I currently work full time in the tech industry (fitness-technology to be precious, previously Peloton and currently Lenus). I bartended my way through my undergrad (upstate NY) and have consistently taken bar jobs on the side since. Between my undergrad and masters, I did have a little stint at Industry Bar, and few spots outside of the city as well.
Stuff I do when I’m not bartending: I am a big reader and you will typically find me with a book in my hand. If not working or reading, I am working out Hiking, Rowing, Running, or throwing around some weights around at Equinox.
Single or Taken: SINGLE
Who/what turns me on: Ambition and drive are my biggest turn ons. My personal mantra is “Do what most won’t, to have what most can’t” and I like to surround myself with people who also live that way…. physically, Mario Lopez, Chloe Bailey, or Sandra Bullock all three would be my ‘hallpasses’.
Favorite music: I am all over the place, but typically vibe most with some pop / EDM.
Favorite movie or TV show: I don’t watch a lot of TV, so I am gonna list my favorite book instead: The Tender Bar by J.R. Moehringer. I have read this book more times than I am willing to admit…. the movie doesn’t do it justice. SO GOOD
Favorite drag queen: I’m kind of partial to all the queens at The Spot
Other stuff you need to know about me: I have the two greatest dogs in the whole world. Hammer is my old man, 13 year old pitty/boxer mix and the biggest snuggle-bug you will ever meet. Loki is my youngest baby and a shepard/lab mix. Loki is one part crazy, one part loving, and a whole lot of mischievous (we call him the unofficial mayor of Hells Kitchen; you’d understand if you saw him on one of his walks, strutting around like he owns the place).
