Many were hoping for Mother Monster to make a surprise appearance, and although that didn’t happen, it was still an amazing night at 3 Dollar Bill for Alaska’s A Star is Born This Way: World Pride Edition show! The RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Stars 2 winner took the stage for a night of drag, live music, and dance inspired by A Star Is Born, with special appearances by her Race Chaser co-host Willam, supergroup Stephanie’s Child (JanSport, Lagoona Bloo, and Rosé), and plenty more talented performers from the Broadway community and underground Brooklyn drag scene.
Throughout the night, Alaska and her team brought out both comedic and soulful interpretations of songs from the movie, as well as covers of Gaga’s own hits (and even a tribute to the 1954 Judy Garland movie version!).
Attendees held their breaths until the very last second, hoping for Gaga to suddenly appear – but sadly, she was nowhere to be found. Luckily, the night still ended on a high note, with the show turning into a Gaga dance party and the performers mingling with the crowd! The show was for a good cause, too, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation.
