Bar(s) that I work at: I work at Red Eye 41st between 8th and 9th ave. During the summer season I alternate with Ice Palace on Cherry Grove, Fire Island.
How long I’ve worked there: I’ve been working at Red Eye and Ice Palace for over two years now.
What are my shifts: In the city I usually work between Wednesday and Sunday, mostly night shifts depending the weekly program. During the summer at IP, I’m there from Friday until Wednesday, every two weeks.
What makes this bar great: We like to call Red Eye an Entertainment venue. On one floor you can a have cocktail and watch various shows and then go downstairs at the Cockpit and immerse yourself in a completely different environment where “less is more”.
Best drink I make: I love to make espresso martinis.
I love it when customers: Personal and professionally. I love to see people having fun. When customers know how to enjoy themselves.
I hate it when customers: When they give you cash all crumbled and/or throw it on top of the counter. I find it so disrespectful.
Craziest thing I’ve seen here: Well… I’ve seen a lot! But one moment that shocked me a lot was when a customer had a little bit much and threw up in my coworkers tip jar and on top of the security staff. All this in the same hour.
Other places I’ve worked: My previous job was at The Spot. Permanently closed.
My hometown: I was born and raised in the north of Portugal.
Stuff I do when I’m not bartending: I love to at least have one day off alone. Stay at home, go for a walk with my dog, dance, read, workout. Also I love to spend time with my two best friends Martin and Josh (we always have a blast!)
Single or Taken: Currently single.
Who/what turns me on: A confident, sexy but kind man. It’s so 2000 and late to be rude or cocky.
Favorite music: I’m a mostly pop gay! The Pop that only women can do. You didn’t ask, but Britney-Spears-Blackout-kinda-Pop!
Favorite movie or TV show: I can safely say that my favorite TV show ever is DARK on Netflix. It was the first German Netflix show available.
Favorite drag queen: I have so many. They’re all so different. I don’t want to risk it and leave anyone out!
My drag name would be: I usually come out with so many random names. Right now, it only comes to my mind “Tipmey Spears”.
Favorite gogo boy: I love to see Vini and Valmir dancing (both dancers here in NYC). Always a joyful energy with them. I also want to see dancing in person a singer/gogo dancer from LA named De_Hanno… they are the epitome of perfection from head to toe.
Favorite DJ: I do love so many genres of music. You can see me at a circuit party, a Tiki Disco or Black Market.
Other stuff you need to know about me: I love to look at the moon and the stars. It brings me so much peace, comfort, oneness in such a chaotic world. My ego belongs to NYC but my higher self belongs to the Universe.
