In our society, it has come to be that nudity is immediately associated with sex. While I will admit that the nude form is both a work of art and one that can be sexually arousing, it can also be seen as a work of art that is a normal state of dress. Hence, the existence of nudists. I blame the religious tales many of us have been told as to why nudity is shameful to so many.
As someone who grew up in a religious household, I have had such religious ideas & stories indoctrinated into me that I have since deprogrammed myself from. Such as how clothes came to be for us in the first place.
From the religious teachings I was told, like many, that when Adam and Eve came to exist, they were, of course, naked. This was fine and normal for their sensibilities. That is until, at the urging of Satan in the form of a snake, Eve ate the apple from the Tree of Knowledge. She then urged Adam to do the same. Afterwards, part of this new knowledge gained from eating fruit from that tree supposedly caused them to be aware of their nakedness. Leading to them covering up as they were cast out of The Garden of Eden.
Tales like this is what started nudity on being associated with sex and shame. But in my challenging religion and the stories we are told from it, I ask,…
Why does awareness of being naked automatically have to mean shame over it?
Also, why is all of the human race paying for the acts of just these 2? Even though they were the first, they were still human, therefore still flawed. So I don’t get why their missteps should not be burdened on their children or all generations after. Meaning us today. In short, my questions from that Bible story further solidify why The Bible is often questioned.
Ever since I came out and have gone further in exploring my exhibitionist spirit, I naturally grew to have a problem with that Bible story. As time went on, I became able to verbalize exactly what that problem was. The problem is that as I explored my exhibitionist and nudist spirit, I felt a sense of inner-peace via self-awareness. And I had no intention of going back to the darkness and shame I felt about myself before. That determination led me to realize that unlike that Bible tale, awareness of nudity does not automatically equate to shame over nudity… unless you allow it to. Especially since I’m not being naked in spaces forbidden by the host(s).
For those that attend nude events, being naked gives them a sense of freedom. An escape from not being stuck putting on a façade for the world. Like many of us have todo in our work lives. It is being in a space where you can be naked and live by the old adage, “What you see is what you get”.
Again, this is not to say that nudity won’t spark sexual arousal. Because the sense of freedom alone packaged in an attractive face & body can be sexually arousing. But even I, someone who began his notoriety in adult entertainment, can find it refreshing to walk into a space and treat it like a restaurant. One where some form of sexis not the entrée. Nor is it listed as the main course. While I have yet to attend these events, I beleive Go Naqed and Natural Pursuits are such events.
Go Naqed and Natural Pursuits spark my interest because you can see that nudity at these events are first and foremost, a sign of liberation. Not sexuality. The only sexuality involved is them catering to gay patronage. In any case, they are events that eliminate the mask to one’s personality that clothes are often used for.
To accommodate how a sense of freedom by nudity can be sexually arousing, there are some nude events that do allow sex play. But you need to check and be sure. For the purpose of this article is to let people know that at a nude event, sex is not automatically on the schedule. Even if it is, it is not as soon as you walk in the door like you would at a sex party. At such nude events, the sex that may happen has a better chance of being sparked by a deeper connection. Since conversation is practically guaranteed to happen beforehand. Which in turn might increase the possibility of forming a relationship (platonic or romantic) if one goes to an event open to it.
As I said in the beginning, the nude form is a work of art. That work of art is sometimes symbolic of something non-sexual. Thereby making it a work of art not meant to be pornographic. And if it is pornographic, as long as the adults participating are consenting and doing no bodily harm, there is no shame in partaking or admiring. But we as adults, must first undo the shame many of us were taught. Regardless if that shame is religious or ethnic in origin. For it is the only way we can experience the proper joy while seeing whatever nudity is presented to us.
