Thotyssey: Nes, hi! How is Frigid February treating you so far?

Nes: I’m doing great! [The weather’s] been a little challenging, but it gives me extra time to focus on preparing for my upcoming pageant.

Exciting times! You’re a Philly queen… when folks are in that city, where can they usually find you performing or just hanging out?

They could normally find me at Frankly Bradley’s performing or supporting my community.

Is Philly your original hometown, and did you grow up with art, fashion and performance in your life?

So I actually was born and raised in Lancaster, PA by a single parent. Growing up I was always drawn to performance, whether watching pop concerts or Broadway shows. But it wasn’t until high school, when I started performing in musical theater, that I truly discovered my passion and felt at home on stage.

How did drag come into your life?

I discovered Drag Race in middle school, and after watching it I would quietly play with makeup behind my mom’s back, lol. I didn’t have the courage to perform until about three years ago!

What’s your style of drag like these days?

I would describe myself like a siren, both in appearance and performance. It’s alluring, but in a captivating, beautiful way… whether I’m performing a ballad or doing something more seductive.

You are certainly a gorgeous queen… what’s your the average time it takes to get ready for drag these days?

Thank you so much! Probably somewhere between an hour or two.

You have a history with pageantry! Can you tell us a bit about your crowns and titles, and what it is you enjoy about the pageant world?

I’ve been fortunate to win a few titles, but I’m currently the reigning Miss Lancaster and Philadelphia Pride. What I love is that these titles give me a platform to share my ideas and dreams, while also living as the queen I’ve always felt like I was from a young age.

On Sunday the 15th, you’ll be a Miss Paradise contestant in Asbury Park. That’s a big one! What made you want to try out for this, and have you gotten to do much performing in Jersey in the past?

I hadn’t performed at all in New Jersey until I was booked by Venus Mystique. I was a little intimidated at first, but after that show I completely fell in love with the energy at Paradise and knew this was where I needed to be!

What else is coming up for you in Jersey, Philly or beyond?

I have some amazing shows coming up, but right now my main focus is on this pageant!

Understood! Finally: what is your favorite or most essential item in your drag bag?

My KKW lip kit.

Gorg! Thanks Nes, and break a leg!
