A staple of New York’s queer piano bar scene, Noah Landry has new original music to share; and might just be a first time Glam Award winner this month! [Cover photo: @sippycuppx]

Thotyssey: Noah, hello! Thanks for chatting with us!

Noah Landry: Hi! Thank you so much for having me.

How is 2026 treating you so far?

So far, the first week has been great. I’ve been working on lots of new music the past few months, and just tracked some vocals for a new song yesterday!

When you’re not creating original music, you’re cranking out the classics in the piano bar scene… most frequently at Uncle Charlie’s. What are some of your favorite piano bar numbers to do?

I love a pop girlie moment, of course! If you come out to hear me at a piano bar, it’s pretty much guaranteed you’ll hear something by Lady Gaga. I also try to play a lot of 80s / 90s / 00s because those are crowd favorites. On a more chill night, I love to break out some jazz standards as well.

Do you have to always intricately work out how to translate a recent pop hit to solo piano, or does it come naturally?

It honestly depends! Some songs certainly translate better than others. But I’m always up for the challenge and pretty adaptable, I’d say. I’ve even done some Charli XCX hyperpop on the piano, which is fun to break out because nobody is expecting it!

Where are you from originally, and was music always a part of your life?

I’m from Youngstown, Ohio originally. And yes, music has always been a quintessential part of my life! I started piano lessons at 7 years old and began studying saxophone just a few years later, following it all the way through college. In terms of my vocal journey, I grew up singing in church and school musicals, but really began honing in on my vocals the last four years since graduating college.

When did you start creating original music?

I started writing in 2020, but I would say I wrote my first good pop song in 2023. That came to be my debut single, and it really opened my world to the beauty of pop music.

Where do you tend to get your inspiration from, as far as lyrics and melodies go?

I draw a lot of my inspiration from modern pop girls, but I’ve also been getting into a lot of Y2K pop / rock. Usually when I’m writing, I start with a chord progression that takes me there. Then it’s figuring out how to find the lyrics and melody to tell the story I’m hearing.

Congrats on your Best Video Glam Award nomination for “It’s My Fucking Fantasy!” Did the nom come as a complete surprise, or did you always think it had a chance?

I was definitely surprised! Not that I didn’t believe in the project, but I wasn’t sure if I had the reach just yet to garner a nomination. This past year was my first time releasing my own pop music and dipping my toe into the queer nightlife scene. I’m honored that the connections and people I met felt compelled to nominate me for an award that has so many other fierce artists and performers!

What was your experience like filming the video?

Filming your first indie music video is definitely overwhelming, but it was so incredible to watch the vision come to life. I can’t wait for everyone to see the visuals I have planned for this year, and to continue to level up my game.

Next Wednesday you’ll be at Red Eye for “Musical Mischief,” hosted by Erich W. Schleck!

I’m so excited to be back with “Musical Mischief” this year! I joined the team in June of 2025, and it has truly been a pleasure. Working with my fellow queer creatives Erich W. Schleck and Bryan Deparsia to curate this show has been a joy, and all of our guests from Broadway and beyond never fail to amaze me with their talent!

And tell us what nights we can usually find you at Uncle Charlie’s.

You can catch me at Uncle Charlie’s most Fridays! I also frequently fill in at The Duplex on Sundays as well.

What else is coming up for you?

This year has a lot of new music and projects in store. I’m filming another music video this month, with the song release to follow shortly. I’m also working towards releasing my debut album later this year.

Glorious! In conclusion, what’s the last song you listened to?

“Call Me Mother” by RuPaul. I’m a huge Drag Race fan, and looking forward to the rest of the season!

Thanks Noah!
