Thotyssey: Hi A.C.I.D.! Happy holiday month! Is this a fun time of year for you, or does it make you… acidic, lol?

A.C.I.D.: Hello helloooo! Yes, happy holidays! It’s crazy that the season is here. I’ve always been a fan of the holidays! Everyone’s usually nicer, there’s so many pretty lights everywhere. It definitely sparks some joy in me!

Do you have any festive looks planned?

Well, my drag family and all of our divas have a fundraiser show coming up that I’m so excited for! So we shall most definitely see a lil’ festive look coming up.

Oh yes, more on that in a bit! Can you tell us what your drag presentation is usually like?

My drag has always evolved, and gone through different phases of face as I’ve gotten older. I started playing in makeup as a little bedroom teen queen when I was 13. I’ve always played with makeup, though. At first, I wanted to be this alien sort of sex creature from space: huge lips, a sharp ass liner (which is still my thing today), colorful faces. As I’ve gotten more into my own skin — my own transness — I am more of sensual creature. I want people to feel like I’m on the prowl when I’m on stage. It’s something that comes so naturally to me. Performing is in my blood.

Where’s your original hometown, and what were some interests and skills you had growing up that may have put you on the drag path?

Well, I’m a Jersey Ecuarican girl through and through, honey. I was born in Hackensack, but I’m a Hudson County girl now… right across Manhattan. When it comes to my life in drag, I’ve always been interested in creating characters as a young child. It wasn’t ’til I was 11 or 12 that I started playing with makeup and making silly videos. Being on the internet in the 2010s also had a huge cultural impact on me, so at a young age I knew I wanted to be an entertainer.

Is “A.C.I.D.” actually short for something?

Oh honey, I’ll tell you — it stands for “Alien Clitoris In Disguise.” I made it up when I was 13. When I officially started performing, I was hesitant on bringing the name back because I knew my drag wasn’t going to be the “A.C.I.D.” that I was at 13. I realized that the name is so much more than that, though. Starting my transition not too long into getting into the scene, the name now holds a sense of identity and metaphor for metamorphosis for me.

I love that! By the way, are you looking forward to seeing anyone or anything in particular on the recently announced 18th Season of Drag Race?

You know, I’m always tuned in for Drag Race. I’m excited to hopefully see fresh and new looks; something different is always cunty.

Tell us about your drag family, and how you became a part of it!

Oh my God! I am so so so incredibly blessed and grateful to have such a loving drag family. I met Silly Brown and Amygdala two summers ago. I went to the first “Blow Pop” show, which is their monthly show at our amazing home bar All Night Skate. It was my first time ever out in the scene in Brooklyn. Amongst the crowd, Silly walked across the bar. We locked eyes, she wagged her finger up and down, honey, and said, “diva … you need to sign up for our open set.” It took me a bit to get myself prepped to make my debut, but eventually I signed up, did my thing… and here we are now.

Through Silly and Amygdala, I was brought together with my drag siblings Lie-Luh  and Ever as well. They have all been such a blessing in my life. It’s truly everything I’ve ever wanted from drag: a community, a place where I perform that also feels like
home, and a family that has brought me so much love and acceptance.

On Monday December 22nd at All Night Skate, you, your family and several guest stars will perform in “It’s Giving, Back,” a coat drive and fundraiser for the NYIC Emergency Justice Fund!

Yes! We are so excited for this show! Any chance we get to bring out the divas for a lil’ one-two is always a ki. It’s most definitely going to be a night of love, amazing drag, and lil’ spice here and there. We are so happy to be raising funds for such a great cause as well.

What else is coming up for you?

I don’t want to spoil too much, but I love teasing… so just know there are really fierce things in the works for the new year ahead.

Very exciting! To close, what do you want for Christmas?

Money! Jeez, give a girl some coin or two! I’ve gained a lot of love and new relationships this year that I’m excited to grow with and develop more. I have most of what I need… but Money Honey always helps… and that’s the T.

And world peace. Muah!

Thanks, A.C.I.D.!
