Bar Babe of the Month: Evan at Macri Park

Trash TV superfan Evan flew all the way from L.A. to pour you spirits in Brooklyn!

Bar that I work at: Macri Park & Metropolitan

How long I’ve worked there: One year in May

What are my shifts: Well for starters, I work every Thursday and Saturday night at Macri. I also pick up a lot of shifts so it really just depends. At Metro I have no weekly set shifts, but also pickup there a lot as well.

What makes this bar great: I think the main thing that makes Macri so fun is that we’re all like a family. We have a lot of regulars who add character to the bar and make Macri interesting to say the least. Also, I think the layout of the bar is amazing. You can sit at the bar or stand pretty much anywhere else at Macri and have a perfect view of the stage while shows are going on.

Best drink I make: I’ve been told I make bomb margaritas

I love it when customers: Compliment me or offer to buy me shots, hahaha! I’m vain. We all like to be complimented, I guess I just am mad honest about it.

I hate it when customers: Wave me or anyone else down from the other side of the bar. We most likely already saw you & will get to you when we can! If we can’t get to you immediately it’s probably because we’re busy, not because we’re ignoring you.

Craziest thing I’ve seen here: When Lady Havokk was hanging from one of the ceiling rafters, and it ripped out of the wall and she fell flat on her ass. I recommend anyone to look it up on YouTube.

Other places I’ve worked: I’ve worked in the service industry since I was 17, so I’ve worked at a bunch of restaurants and bars.

My hometown: I grew up in Long Beach, California but have lived all over in LA and Huntington Beach. So I basically I just say LA whenever I’m asked.

Stuff I do when I’m not bartending: I’m fully addicted to trash reality TV. Also love doing anything outdoors whether it’s going for a run, spin class, bootcamp classes, or even just going for a walk around the city. Back home I would go hiking all the time but that’s not readily available in NYC. Lately during the day I’ve been editing YouTube vlogs for me & other friends & doing coding classes online.

Single or Taken: At this exact second? Single but dating

Who/what turns me on: Shawn Mendes

Favorite music: I’m obsessed with any early 2000’s music. I also listen to a ton of rap. And of course, I gotta hold it down for my favorite pop star Britney. Back home before moving here I went to a lot of festivals like EDC, Dirtybird Campout and Desert Hearts. So I also love house music and techno. So I guess you can say that my Spotify playlists are all over the place.

Favorite movie or TV show: Any trashy reality TV. Vanderpump Rules, Flavor of Love, I Love New York, America’s Next Top Model, any of the Real Housewives franchises. One of my life goals is to be on Survivor, but let’s not open that can of worms right now, haha! My favorite movies are White Chicks, Scary Movie 2, The Hot Chick, and the Lizzie McGuire Movie.

Favorite drag queen: If we’re talking about this season of Drag Race, I’m fully rooting for my girls Silky Nutmeg Ganache and Vanjie.

My drag name would be: Hilary Muff (a slight spin on Disney Channel legend Hilary Duff)

Favorite gogo boy: Levi Karter

Favorite DJ: Anyone who releases music on Dirtybird Records or Desert Hearts Records. I’m actually in a Lyft on my way to JFK to go to Desert Hearts Festival back home in California for my lil’ summer pow wow trip. So stoked. But in Brooklyn nightlif,e my fave DJ is hands down P_A_T. I saw him the first night I moved to Brooklyn and he played ‘What Dreams Are Made Of’ by Hilary Duff. In that moment I knew I was a fan.

Other stuff you need to know about me: I just recently started a monthly party every first Thursday at Macri Park called millenni-YUM. Magenta hosts (with special guest performances) and P_A_T DJs. It’s an ode to the early 2000’s and is already poppin.
