Whether pouring at Icon, understudying for Alan Cumming or performing as Eve Angelica, one thing’s for certain: Leeds is a Bar Babe!
Bar that I work at: Icon in Astoria, Queens
How long I’ve worked there: 3 months
What are my shifts: Sundays and Mondays 5pm-4am, and whenever my fellow bartenders need me to cover for them.
What makes this bar great: Icon is great because of the neighborhood vibe. There is a real sense of community, and our regulars are fantastic. Also, Icon came under new ownership about a year ago, and the bar has been revitalized. We have drag shows and events every night of the week! There’s also no cover, and the drinks are cheap so you get a lot of bang for your buck.
Best drink I make: I make a mean Shelby’s Juice. You’ll just have to stop on by to see what’s in it. Drink your juice, Shelby.
I love it when customers: Are respectful and tip well.
I hate it when customers: Are rude and get too sloppy. A pet peeve of mine is when people order something, I make it for them, and then they’re nowhere to be found.
Craziest thing I’ve seen here: Katya from RuPaul’s Drag Race sitting on the stoop outside right before I started my shift. They were filming part of Hurricane Bianca 2 in the bar, and I got to take a picture with her!
Other places I’ve worked: Hamburger Mary’s in Cincinnati, the Starbucks at Trump Tower (I have stories! Come to Icon to hear them!)

Stuff I do when I’m not bartending: see theatre, go to drag shows, read books in coffee shops, go to the gym, go to auditions, go to dance class, and hang out with my husband and two dachshunds.

Favorite music: I love a wide variety of music. Jazz, Showtunes, Pop, Rock, Hip Hop, Classical. Honestly whenever music is playing, I’m compelled to dance.
Favorite movie or TV show: Archer, Bob’s Burgers, Broad City, The Mick, American Dad, The Simpsons, American Horror Story, Will and Grace, and basically every gay camp classic movie
Favorite drag queen: Sutton Lee Seymour, Cacophony Daniels, Bob The Drag Queen, Bianca Del Rio
My drag name would be: Eve Angelica (I actually have a drag character)
Favorite gogo boy: All those that volunteer their time to Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS
