Bar that I work at: Albatross Bar in Astoria, Queens.
How long I’ve worked there: Over a year and a half.
What are my shifts: Saturday-Tuesday 5pm-4am (happy hour weekdays are 5-8pm–buy one get one on almost everything).
What makes this bar great: The diversity makes it an incredible place–we are a bar for everyone. Our regulars are some of the friendliest people you will meet, so when anyone comes in alone on a slow evening they are sure to make a new friend.
Best drink I make: For the (winter) season I make delicious hot cider and mulled wine full of spices and fruit.
I love it when customers: are respectful to the performers and other patrons, and to myself. A smile goes a long way and of course, tips!
I hate it when customers: don’t tip, or make other customers uncomfortable.
Craziest thing I’ve seen here: I mean, it’s a gay bar in NYC. I’m not sure what “crazy” is anymore. It’s always fun here!
My hometown: Originally, Belarus. However, I’ve considered Bay Ridge (Brooklyn) home since my family moved to NYC in 2000.
Stuff I do when I’m not bartending: I sleep, ice skate, gallery hop, see Broadway shows, cook (yummy) food, travel. Basically, I stay fabulous.
Single or Taken: Single and looking. A hopeful-romantic here!
Who/what turns me on: Confidence, honesty, class, and a handful of kinks.
Favorite music: Anything but bluegrass or country music when the songs are about dead dogs, girlfriends and pick up trucks.
Favorite movie or TV shows: Weeds, Scandal, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia.
Favorite drag queen: Sutton Lee Seymour, Beverly Leslie Sills and Bob the Drag Queen
